Atletico - No Forlan exit-skysport

Atletico Madrid have moved to quash rumours that Diego Forlan may leave the club.

The 31-year-old has been linked with a move to Italy following his Golden Ball performance for Uruguay in the World Cup.

Juventus, who have also linked with Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko, are said to be interested in signing the talented striker who is under contract with Atletico until 2013.

A return to the Premier League has also been mooted for the former Manchester United man, with Tottenham said to be among his suitors.

For that reason, the Primera Division side insist their star man, who scored the winning goal in the Europa League final against Fulham, is staying put.

"We don't know anything about any club," Atletico president Enrique Cerezo told Spanish sports newspaper AS.

"No one called us to ask for Forlan. That is why we are calm.

"The intention of Atletico is not to transfer any players. If anyone wanted Forlan, they would have to speak to us first. But our player is happy at Atletico and the best thing is to let him be."
