Chelsea Will Be Able To Defend Our EPL Title Next Season--goal.com

Carlo Ancelotti believes that Chelsea will retain theirPremier League title even if they lose out on Fernando Torres and Joe Cole this summer.

The Blues were able to beat Manchester United by one point in a title race for the title last season, stopping the Red Devils from winning a record fourth consecutive league title.

Chelsea have only spent £5 million to bolster the team this summer, signing midfielder Yossi Benayoun from Liverpool, but the club are keeping an eye on the Torres situation.

The Spain international would cost upwards of £50 million in the transfer market, but Ancelotti believes that Chelsea can win the Premier League for the second straight year.

"We don't need more strikers, we are able to win,” Ancelotti told
The Sun.

"We are able to defend the title. We have to defend this title. We want to do our best in all the competitions."

The 51-year-old is targeting a deep run in the Champions League this season after a disappointing elimination by eventual winners Inter Milan in the Round of 16.

"Our aim is to do better than the last year in the Champions League.

“We went out too early last season."
