Chelsea target Bastian Schweinsteiger--goal.com

Bayern Munich midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger has reportedly asked the Bavarian giants to listen to any offer for him from Real Madrid. According to AS, the 25-year-old, who impressed at World Cup 2010 in the enterprising Germany that finished in third place, has instructed his agent Robert Schneider to tell Munich officials of his desire to make the switch to the Bernabeu. Schweinsteiger's current contract with the Bundesliga kingpins is set to expire in 2012 and the buyout clause contained in that deal is believed to be £45.9 million (55m), and Madrid have reportedly made his signing a priority during the current transfer window. Premier League champions Chelsea are also understood to be interested in taking Schweinsteiger to Stamford Bridge as a replacement for his compatriot, Michael Ballack, but the player's preference is reported to be los Merengues.
