Arsenal interested in Algeria defender Rafik Halliche

Arsenal are reported to have begun negotiations to swell their depleted defensive ranks with Algeria World Cup 2010 star Rafik Halliche, according to Chromofoot.com.
Halliche, 23, caught the eye of manager Arsene Wenger with his strong displays in South Africa. After helping to shut out England in the group stage, the Benfica defender tops the list of targets to replace out of contract stars William Gallas, Sol Campbell and Mikael Silvestre.
Talks between the centre back's agent and Arsenal are rumoured to have already begun in a London hotel. Halliche is understood to be keen to make the switch after spending the last two seasons on loan at Nacional.
