Arsenal readying £20m bid for Germany star Oezil
Arsenal are preparing a £20 million swoop for Werder Bremen midfielder Mesut Oezil, according to a report from The Daily Star.
The 21-year-old has apparently been on the Gunners' wishlist for several months, and manager Arsene Wenger is keen to add the youngster, who has illuminated the World Cup with his vibrant creativity, to his midfield ranks.
Oezil has one year left on his contract at Werder and has previously expressed a desire to play in the Premier League.
“The Premiership is a great league and teams like Chelsea and Man United are very strong," the player told Match of the Day Magazine.
“While the World Cup is on, I won’t think about my future – but La Liga and the Premiership have teams where you can win the best trophies.
“I just need time to think. This is about the next three or four years, my future."
Oezil is believed to currently earn around £20,000 a week in Bremen but could triple that figure in the Premier League.
